Go, Go, Go and Summer Plans

I had planned for this week to be my one week summer reset: clean the house, plan, prep/gather resources, eat healthy, move, wash and brush Lela and Naia's hair, etc..

It didn't happen.

I ate healthy and got to the gym/went on walks a few times (while I wait for Eaden to dance). I cleaned my sister's house and got the kids to all of their activities. Eaden also passed her driver's test. However, I have yet to get to the hair or my own house. Our washer broke to the point it wasn't worth fixing and Eaden's phone is not working (which she needs if driving). She received an iphone from a mom for helping her daughter with dance. Unfortunately, iphones are much harder to work on than androids. So those are two pressing issues that I need to deal with while also finding about twelve hours or so for hair today and tomorrow.

Some backstory...

A few months ago, we had squirrels getting into our house through rotting soffit which led to us starting a lawsuit with Allstate. While waiting for that process we put chicken wire around all of the holes (everywhere and high up). Then, maybe a month ago, the AC started freezing up and dripping water. I brought the hose into the house and sprayed two cans of coil cleaner while it all poured on my face ( I had to crawl into a small space and spray up lol) and I scrubbed/sprayed the coils. It started working... Then with the power outage and surges our hot water heater stopped working. My dad brought over his voltage tester and we were able to determine that the control board was bad. We ordered a new one and my dad replaced it (I may have blown up the house). Also, our trees need to be trimmed badly but we can't do that right now. Our yard is a mess with limbs. Both of our vans need to be worked on before we drive to Atlanta later in June...Whah!!! Thanks for listening :)

I tell myself do one thing at a time and say no/cancel plans. Eaden is having to miss dance today so we can find a washing machine. I made her move one downtown dance to Soreal on Wednesday. Sometimes I have to tell Mirek no to Friday Taekwondo. Taven really can't miss his baseball workouts with the homeschool team because we are on scholarship and they asked us not to miss. The football workouts are optional right now so we can definitely miss those. Wildcatter baseball he also has to go.

Anyway, I am trying to get past this point of broken shit so I can chill for a bit. Once that happens, here is our summer plan.

I would like to keep our YMCA time the same only because it keeps the kids on a sleeping schedule and they complain when it's crowded and all the machines are taken. Lately, Taven will stay up late playing video games and face timing his friends and then say he wants to go to the gym later in the day. However, if Eaden and I still go early, that's an extra trip to the gym. It's crap like that I try to avoid.

I do not want the kids on screens all day, obviously, but I want them to have autonomy. If I am in constant control, they will never become responsible. Too many rules and doing everything for your kids will backfire. Sometimes, it takes a while for them to realize what is best for them, but that time and practice making decisions is needed. I will focus on discussing (and hopefully modeling) self care, but ultimately, they will be in charge of themselves after 1pm.

I like this graphic I found on Pinterest.
